Basic 2 Step and Intermediate Swing starts Thursday April 8th - 4 weeks
There are several ways to go about learning 2 step dance as this community is so open. They provide great lessons at most of their dances for tipping the instructors. The one thing that can be said is the folks that 2 step (my umbrella ignorant term) is that they love the art of dancing and share it. I will be doing my part by continuing to post on the Seattle Announcements Calendar lessons, dances and times of when one can dance and brush up on their fancy footwork. Ms T
'Rain Country Dance Association is pleased to announce weekly dance
lessons at the Miller Community Center on Capitol Hill, and we'd like
to have you join us!
Classes will begin Thursday, April 8, 2010 at the Miller Community
Center, which is located at 330 19th Avenue East in Seattle. There is
plenty of parking around the center, so if the top lot is full, go
around the corner and use the bottom lot. We have two tracks of
lessons, and encourage you to choose which one (or both) is best for
you.
* The 7:00 to 8:00 track is Level 1 C&W Two Step (beginning) and
will take you through the basics and several turns and spins, as well
as some of the more popular dance positions.
* The 8:00 to 9:00 track is Intermediate West Coast Swing - "Bust
Your Windows".
Level 1 C&W Two Step will start at the beginning and move quickly
through several turns and position changes. The lesson will be heavily
adapted to the skill level of the class, so even if you are an
intermediate dancer, we guarantee that you'll learn something new in
this class.
Intermediate WCS will play with some choreography to the song "Bust
Your Windows by Jazmine Sullivan. This song, with it's undulating
tango rhythms and provocative lyrics, adapts itself easily to a lot of
back and forth and play between lead and follow. You can preview the
song on Rhapsody here: http://p.rhap. com/Tra.23188210
This class is not a continuation of any of our earlier "choreography"
classes, so if you already know some WCS and want to learn more, this
is the class for you. We will expect that you can execute some simple
6-count passes, a push break, and a basic pivot whip. If you have any
questions about this class, please contact Michael directly at mkelson@gmail.com
Each track is $50 for four weeks of lessons, but if you're a Rain
Country member, you'll get a $10 discount for each track you enroll
in.
If you're not a member of Rain Country, you can join when you register
for only $25.
Please plan to show up 15-20 minutes early on the first night of
lessons to allow plenty of time for registration.
For more information, please e-mail mkelson@gmail.com.
We look forward to seeing you in class, and on the dance floor!
