Dr Oz on transgender children Thursday February 18th

Groundbreaking Dr. Oz Show on Transgender Children Airs Thursday, Feb 18
from glaadBLOG.org by Anna Wipfler, GLAAD's Transgender Advocacy Fellow

GLAAD is pleased to announce that on Thursday, February 18th 'The Dr. Oz Show' will be airing one of the best 15-minute segments on transgender children to ever appear on national television.

    KOMO SEATTLE

    3:00P
    12:00P

Dr. Oz hosted two transgender children and their families on his show to discuss their experiences growing up and their parents’ decision to support them in their true identity.  Representatives from GLAAD and Trans Youth Family Allies were present for the live taping, and we were happy to witness the overwhelming respect and accuracy with which Dr. Oz presented and discussed a topic that has often been mishandled by media professionals.

We encourage all supporters to watch this groundbreaking episode on February 18th. Check here for your local show times/channels.  Please check back after it airs for our overview blog.

    Saturday Picks

This Saturday evening there are 4 dances to pick from.  HotFlash started in Seattle with Disco and are returning a bit of it to us during the 7-10pm hour with some Top 40 mixed in with Funk for $10 (starts at 6 but with 50's & 60's music until 7).  I know there are some of us that are talking about gathering to dance to the music that we enjoy this Saturday at HotFlash.  The WildRose is having their Queer Dance Party for a $5 cover and Cherry is having an Alternative Rock Explosion at the Re-Bar with discounted cover for early arrival.  Swank rounds out the dance arena with their no cover Top 40 dance.  All events are on the Seattle Announcements Calendar with details that are not provided here..

If free music is your gig then Laughing Ladies Cafe is the spot for you if you want a queer atmosphere.  If you just want good music and the ability to grab a bite from a variety of spots, then Third Place Books is the venue in Lake Forest Park.  Open the events on the Seattle Announcements Calendar and you will see the musical group that is playing.

There are also many other things to do...open that calendar and you will be amazed how rich our town is.  Ms T
