Christmas Trees from Dunshee House & their services

This is perhaps early but I want to plant a seed as buying your Christmas Tree from Dunshee House is a small thing that we each can do to help support a wonderful organization (I don't assume we all celebrate Christmas).  The Christmas tree lot begins the day after Thanksgiving and runs through Christmas Eve.
Would we like to organize a group of US to work a shift
for this neighborhood event?  Wouldn't that be a HOOT!!
Let me know if you are interested and I will set it up.

I was a part of Dunshee House (it was called SASG then) in their support group Family Shoulders in the early 91's-93ish.  I cannot say enough of how this group saved my emotional self when my brother told me he had HIV and then died suddenly and unnecessarily due to hospital neglect and prejudice.

Help out with our largest fundraising event, the annual Christmas tree lot!
Each year, the backyard of Dunshee House is transformed into our largest fundraising event, the annual Christmas tree lot (303 17th Avenue East ).  This event, which is almost completely volunteer-driven, provides a major portion of our annual operating budget.  Plus, it’s fun!  The Christmas tree lot begins the day after Thanksgiving and runs through Christmas Eve, but preparations begin long before that.
If you are interested in pitching in,
or would like to bring a group of friends to work a shift for this neighborhood event,
contact David by phone: (206) 322-2584 or email: david@dunsheehouse.org

You will find many groups unrelated to HIV on our Seattle Announcements Calendar that Dunshee House hosts that fit nicely with the goal of our group in creating a sense of community and are FREE of charge.  Family of Choice for example is a drop in group for LBTQ women meeting on Tuesday evenings where one can meet new friends while sharing common experiences and creating community.  Or maybe you would enjoy their Spiritual Empowerment Group on the same evening which is a mixed gender group.

On Wednesday's they offer a Book Club that meets weekly to discuss a montly book that is selected.  On the 2nd, 3rd & 4th Friday of every month they have Queer Alternative GaYme Night for all LGBTQ's.  If you have friends or teens this could be a perfect event to attend with or without them.

If you are struggling with a break up they have a upbeat group on Sundays called Daring Divorced Diva's and it requires a check in with the facilitator before attending.  This ensures everyone's privacy and safety in the group.  Last, Lotus Sisters meets on the 2nd Sunday and is a lesbian Sangha that meets for sitting and walking meditation.  Many are Vipassana practitioners but all are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Lots of options and all are listed on the Seattle Announcements Calendar.
