Survey to improve treatment & awareness of urinary and sexual health

Help us improve the treatment and awareness of urinary and sexual health of women who have sex with women (WSW) and men who have sex with men (MSM)!
Researchers in the Department of Urology at the University of California in San Francisco are conducting a study on the urinary and sexual heath of WSW and MSM. We hope to promote understanding, attention and awareness of this topic in the medical community.

If you are 18 or older, WSW or MSM, We need your help completing a TOTALLY ANONYMOUS internet based survey. The survey takes about 15-20 minutes to complete.

Survey: FTM Voice

My name is Vica Papp and I am a speech scientist at Rice University, Houston, TX in the USA. My PhD research concerns the voice experiences, vocal health, and vocal satisfaction of all trans men, transmen and FTMs. In order to better inform the transgender, medical and academic communities about the speech-related experiences,  concerns and needs of trans men, transmen and FTMs I created an online questionnaire.

The time required to complete the questionnaire is about 20 minutes and all FTMs, transmen and trans men over 18 years old are eligible to fill out the questionnaire _regardless of testosterone use_. Your answers are completely confidential and encrypted.

Reflections of TransformNation, a documentary about gender identity

Last Friday I was able to attend the the screening of TransformNation, a documentary about gender identity with about 30 other people.  I arrived just before the film started as it was that horrible windy and nasty evening that Seattle was experiencing.  Folks were enjoying snackage, drinks and enjoying getting to know each other before the film started.

The film was shot in ~2002 and provided insight into some of the thoughts and feelings that people have about themselves during their process of changing gender.  There were different age ranges, experiences and reactions that the 8 filmed participants had about their transition process.  Alex DePaz hopes to do a follow up to check in and see where these original 8 are today.  I think this would make a wonderful addition to this first film that Alex has submitted to our upcoming Translations, Seattle Transgender Film Festival.

After the film we had an impromptu discussion about the film and thoughts in general that people had.  I hope that Alex will create this dialogue after future screenings as people seemed very interested in talking and sharing their own thoughts, feelings and experiences.  One of the 8 portrayed in the film was available for the discussion and the audience seemed appropriately respectful but also wanted to ask questions of him.  It was a very successful screening especially if you consider that many of us stayed until close to midnight.

Alex did the original film on his own but now has a team of folks that are enthusiastic that will be working to produce content on a specific time-line.  Purr Productions intends to produce a number of other interesting films.  I will keep you posted about their progress.  Ms T

• ' Hey DOC' a short lesbian comedy about lust in the doctor’s office between a patient and her doctor.

Perfect 10 Speed Dating this Friday the 9th

This Friday is Perfect 10 Speed Dating which I had the pleasure of attending last month to assist jenifa who is the doll that is putting this event on.  I had never been to the Southlake Grill before and was impressed with the location for this event.  We had the entire upstairs which was a nice set up as it was not too noisy and had the perfect privacy one would want with this kind of event.  We had our own bartenders and they were happy to bring good food up to us all evening.

There were almost an equal number of men and women that registered for the event.  TRAFFIC was horrible on this night and although it was I think perhaps a bit unconventional, we all visited together before the event started.  I was helping jenifa out for the evening although she had it together enough that I was able to enjoy hanging with a couple (yes, it did become known as the three-way table).  Everyone was having a good time!

The matching was done via secret handshake behind closed doors the next morning but what I did find out is that Perfect 10 has about a 80% rate of people meeting and wanting to go on a date afterwards!  Pretty kewl, I would say.  The evening seemed to be fun and relaxed for the participants and a whole bunch of us went out for pizza afterwards and frankly, the peeps were just nice folks.  One may not find their Perfect 10 the first night, but I bet you can find a perfect friend in the crowd and have a good time doing so.
