Have you ever thought about serving on a non-profit board?
There are so many ways to support the community that we live in. With the many non-profits that have closed due to lack of financial oversight the past few years I thought I would include this on our list of resources. I have had several conversations with community members about how powerless we have felt as supposed stewards of important necessary services have been allowed to rip off our community, our pockets and our overall faith in others. While this training will not replace personal integrity, it is nice to know that it is in place. Ms T.
Do you want to do more in your community? Ever thought about serving on a non-profit board?
Then think about participating in The Bridge!
The Bridge is a dynamic training program designed to give you the basics in nonprofit and government board service. Step on up!
Why board service?
Impact. There is nothing better than making a difference in a child's life through tutoring, or enhancing your neighborhood by cleaning up a park. But think about the impact you could have if you served on a board that determined how many children received tutoring, or which parks were receiving the most funding? On a board, you give direction, you raise the money and YOU are our community's stewards.
Without boards, our community institutions would fall apart... do you really want to live in a community without them?
The Course
In a series of trainings, you'll learn about roles and responsibilities of nonprofit and public board members in addition to completing personal skill and interest assessments.
The Bridge coursework focuses on:
- financial and legal responsibilities
- governance structures
- fundraising and public budgeting
- personal reflection
Following the training, we connect you with board opportunities. Then again, you might decide that board service isn't for you. But at least you know!
