Can you assist with an item between now and September?
Please take a moment to see if you happen to have an item or can provide an item between now and September that can assist MCC take part in this one day event to help the homeless in our area. Certainly with the economy the way it is, many people are finding themselves in situations that they would not have in other economic times. It takes a small amount to assist. Ms T.
Community Resource Exchange (CRE), a one-day mega-event serving more than 1,100 people experiencing homelessness. On September 24, United Way will be hosting its fifth Community Resource Exchange at QWEST Field, where King County's most vulnerable can receive a variety of much-needed services from haircuts and massages to dental care and employment training. We're determined to make sure every client that visits us receives a care package full of the much needed supplies.
Specifically, we are trying to collect 1,500 of the following items:
· Adult Underwear (new)
· Adult Socks (new)
· Hygiene Packs (Ziploc bags with deodorant, shampoo/conditioner, razor)
· Backpacks
· Adult Winter coats
If you can help, begin gathering these items in the next months and we will collect them at Emerald City MCC in September. Questions? CRE@uwkc.org.
Emerald City MCC meets at the Chapel of the University Temple UMC, 1415 NE 43rd, on 43rd between 15th and the Ave. (University Way) at 11 am. Bus routes 30, 43, 44, 48, 70, 71, 72, 73. Free parking at UW Bookstore parking lot across from church and behind the Burke Museum, south on 45th and 17th.
