Opening Night - Translations: The Seattle Transgender Film Festival - Becoming Chaz

Tonight is the Opening Party for Translations: The Seattle Transgender Film Festival.  We are so fortunate to have this event in our community!  The festival started last night with a free showing of Sold: Examining the T in TV Advertising.
2011 Translations
The 6th Annual Transgender Film Festival
May 12-15

Becoming Chaz is the highlighted film tonight and then it is party time!

A small sidenote:  I spent 5 hours yesterday creating posts on the film festival and posts for next week when blogspot 'went down'.  Today, I found NONE of my posts saved!  Yesterday they did and today they are gone-poof.  Therefore, I am hurriedly putting together the posts again, minus the glitz so at least the information is on the blog and emailed via the GayZette.  Ms T.

Becoming Chaz

Opening Night
Friday, May 13
7pm
AMC Pacific Place
600 Pine Street (4th floor)
Seattle, WA 98101
Growing up as Sonny and Cher’s adorable golden-haired daughter in a body he felt wasn’t his own was a burden it took Chaz Bono years to transcend. BECOMING CHAZ invites us along on Chaz’s brave and remarkable journey of transformation. As hormone shots give way to top surgery, easy going and unflappable Chaz beams with a sense of liberation and goes public with his story, putting a very public face on a widely misunderstood issue. But with his gregarious girlfriend struggling with the new realities of living with a man, it’s made clear that sex change isn’t solely a physical transition.
Intimate and nakedly honest, the film reveals the humanity and courage it takes for Chaz to ultimately embrace his true self. His moving struggle will reverberate profoundly for anyone to whom authenticity matters.
